about

Thrustfall is a burst of humanity translated in sound. Risk , kindness, emptiness, love and hate coexisting. Happening inside the lyricism of melody or just by the physicality of sound of an instrument being mercilessly played or hit , detaching the musical instrument from its function of being just an interface to becoming a limb; In this state of art, this band becomes a vocal chord from the human instinct. 
5 different people, from different parts of the world, using sound as an epicenter. They let themselves fall inside this center with no fear, and also throw themselves back kindly and violently by being what they are, doing what they do. Knowing that in this specific moment, throwing yourself is ok. And risking completely has a different meaning, and is necessary, and crashing is necessary as embracing. Friction to create fire.
the music you hear is a result of love, urgency, passion and its side effects. flawed, imperfect as it its.

It’s hard to believe that it is this quintet’s first performance that is captured on this recording. I hear a cohesive ensemble statement embodying qualities that so often take a long time to cultivate: compassionate listening, trust and fearless risk-taking. On this set, composed materials seamlessly dissolve into collectively improvised flights of fancy, going anywhere from dense sound collages to spontaneous ballads and everything in between. Each individual’s voice shines through, while a clear aesthetic thread is established through the careful selection of repertoire and personnel. It speaks volumes for Vinicius Cajado’s qualities as a bandleader, composer and catalyst for creating unique spaces for a free and open exchange of musical ideas. I feel honored to have taken part in this journey. Just as I felt when I was on stage with Nicole, Hana, Steve and Vini, I can’t wait to find out what awaits around the corner with this music.
